The lighthouse on the open-sea reef of Sveti Ivan, roughly midway along Istria's west coast, was built by the Austro-Hungarian authorities in 1853. It stands alone on the open sea west of Rovinj and is one of the oldest on the Adriatic.
The lighthouse is reached only by boat; ask about trips from Rovinj harbour.
