The Rječina river gave the city its name, and its valley cuts surprisingly wild into the karst right behind the center. Paths follow the green water past steep slopes and traces of old industry while the city noise quickly fades. Within minutes you feel far away from harbor and traffic.
The paths get slippery after rain; proper shoes make all the difference.
