Why it is worth your time
Delta is the flat tongue of land where the Rječina river reaches the sea, a step away from the city centre. Along the Mrtvi kanal moored boats rock in a row, gulls patrol the quays, and the wide open ground beyond fills up with fairs and concerts through the year. Walk the water's edge and you see Rijeka as it really is: a working port city, cranes and all.
