Why it is worth your time

Built in 1447 as part of the Venetian defences, this five-sided tower marks the gateway where the Decumanus begins. Vines now spill over its ancient stones and a café tucks into its base. Pass beneath the arch and you step straight from the modern square into the Roman grid.
