Stand on the canyon rim near Entrance 1 for the postcard view that defines Plitvice: the lower lakes shimmering far below and the Great Waterfall threading down the green gorge. Morning light fills the basin and rainbows often hang in the spray. It is the best place to grasp how the whole staircase of lakes fits together before you walk down into it.
