Why it is worth your time

Sweep up the grand staircase of this palace built when Rijeka was Hungary's great seaport, and stand in the very halls where the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio ruled his short-lived Regency in 1919. Today its salons hold model ships, sea charts and the maritime story of the Croatian coast.
